Health and healing has been Peter’s passion for most of his life; he was reading books on using herbs to treat health problems in his spare time almost 40 years ago, and has been treating patients for over 35 years. Peter has studied naturopathy, nutrition, iridology, massage, Chinese herbal medicine, Sotai (a structural balancing technique), and aromatherapy. In 1996 he was dux of his college in acupuncture, won the Australian Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Association Annual Prize, and received an Excellence in Clinical Practice Award from the Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. Peter then completed several post-graduate courses in Japanese acupuncture, including the Manaka Protocols and the Toyohari methods.
Peter saw a great need for high quality natural health care for the people of Brisbane, and in 1996 Centenary Natural Therapies Clinic was established. Over the years the Clinic has developed a reputation for excellence in the results they achieve, and has currently won 9 separate awards.
With his background in many therapies, and extensive training and experience in Japanese acupuncture assessment methods, Peter is able to quickly identify what is going on with a client’s body, what is working properly and what is not, what has caused the problem, and what is the best way to sort it out. (This is done during our free Comprehensive Health Assessment.)
Though he was originally trained in Chinese acupuncture, Peter now prefers to provide Japanese acupuncture treatments. He has a particular interest in working with clients with fertility issues*, as well as the management of pain, fatigue, and nausea related to many chronic diseases. He also has a special interest in treating difficult and complex cases.
(*It is becoming more common for our acupuncturists to work in conjunction with medical fertility specialists whilst a woman is undergoing ART (Assisted Reproductive Technologies such as IVF, IUI and ICSI). There is continuing research about how acupuncture can assist with the effectiveness of IVF treatment, and there is also broad agreement by acupuncturists and other health practitioners about using acupuncture in these cases. Please contact Peter if you would like to find out if acupuncture may be able to assist in regard to your specific situation.)
Peter is passionate about improving people’s lives, and believes in providing the highest quality treatments possible for his clients. He enjoys passing on his knowledge and experience to other therapists, and teaches regular classes in Japanese acupuncture diagnosis and treatment.
