Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to improve the skin. It can be used to

• Eliminate fine wrinkles and reduce deeper wrinkles
• Improve specific skin disorders, such as acne, rosacea, alopecia, etc
• Improve the quality of the skin, by making it more toned and plump, reducing sagging, evening out the complexion
• Reduce then appearance of scars (including acne scars)
• Reduce the appearance of aging

How the acupuncture has this effect is unknown, but it is believed to increase the blood flow to the area, which will increase the nutrition to the cells and reduce wastes, making the cells healthier and more vibrant.

Is It Uncomfortable?

As with most acupuncture, a lot depends on the therapist. The acupuncture ‘needles’ are extremely fine (some are the thickness of a hair), and a skilled and experienced therapist is can put them in with little or no sensation. The accuracy of the therapist is also important, as the more accurate the needle is placed the less you can sense. (Sometimes clients are not even aware they have had a needle inserted.)
