Camilla has over fifteen years experience as a Natural Health Practitioner, which ensures you are in capable, qualified and experienced hands. Camilla utilises a combination of therapies, including Japanese Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, Western supplements, dietary and lifestyle advice, to give you the most comprehensive solution possible for your health needs. She uses both modern Western diagnostic tools and ancient traditional medicine techniques to gain a thorough understanding of your complete health. In many cases she will evaluate your blood results and scan reports as well as diagnosing with palpation and visual methods.

After successfully treating many clients for fertility and hormonal disorders, Camilla realised that her true passion lies in treating Women’s Health, with a particular focus on fertility. She finds the complexity of this area fascinating and gains great satisfaction from the difference that she makes to her patient’s lives.

FERTILITY TREATMENTS

Part of Camilla’s passion for this area developed through her own struggle to conceive her first child. After trying to conceive (TTC) for 12 months, a pelvic ultrasound and blood tests revealed that she had quite severe Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) with over 25 follicles on each ovary, and two joined fibroids measuring a combined diameter of 9cm. This was all devastating news and Camilla was immediately referred to a fertility specialist.

However, she decided to take a less invasive measure first and see an Acupuncturist who specialised in fertility. As well as receiving weekly Acupuncture treatments her therapist also altered her diet, prescribed several supplements and advised several significant lifestyle alterations. Part of these alterations included

  • Getting to bed by 9:30 and getting at least 8 hours sleep a night
  • Drinking no more than 3 standard drinks a week
  • Significantly reducing sugar intake
  • Eating 5 small meals a day
  • Increasing healthy protein and vegetable intake
  • Undertaking moderately intense exercise 4-5 times a week
  • Reducing stress by changing to a less stressful job

Though some of these changes may seem extreme, Camilla was happy to make them if it meant her dream of becoming a mother became a reality. Within 6 months she had lost 12% body weight (8kg) and was having a regular cycle for the first time in her life. Her cycle had gone from up to 120 days in length to 35 days. She felt so much healthier with an abundance of energy and continued receiving weekly treatments. Her eldest daughter was then conceived after two years of TTC.

Camilla’s next pelvic ultrasound did not detect any PCOS or fibroids, proving that Acupuncture combined with lifestyle and dietary changes is a truly effective treatment for reproductive conditions.

Camilla often talks about how incredibly stressful the process of TTC was and how it is peppered with a myriad of emotions. “The process was such a mixture of sadness, anger, jealousy and desperation, combined with hope every month that this cycle would be ‘the one’. I truly empathise with each of my clients who are struggling to conceive. I also appreciate that my story is an ‘easy’ TTC story and that there are many who would dream of having such an easy time conceiving.”

While ideally every woman would conceive naturally, Camilla is aware that this is just not possible for all women. Fortunately she is very skilled and experienced in all aspects and stages of the conception process:

  • Pre-conception treatment: getting your body to its peak health is important to produce the healthiest possible baby.
  • Reproductive health treatment: when your body requires additional assistance to conceive. For example, the treatment of PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, insufficient lining of the uterus, irregular periods, painful periods, heavy periods, and unexplained infertility.
  • Assisted reproduction: increasing the likelihood of a successful outcome with IUI and IVF treatments. To increase the likelihood of a successful embryo transfer, acupuncture should be performed 24hrs before and after embryo transfer, as well as 4 days post transfer to further assist implantation. We also recommend weekly treatments until 12 weeks gestation.
  • Recovery from intervention: after laparoscopy, egg retrieval, hysterosalpingogram (HSG), or the side effects of stimulated cycles. Acupuncture is incredibly effective in reducing the healing time of these often invasive procedures.
